Prevention is the best cure for the virus to a computer

You are sick. You have a fever, chills, headache and a terrible way that you can not think right. Anyone who claims to desperately need your help, you are not going to get out of bed. Your computer can endure the same thing -- a virus. And, in the worst case, it could cause your computer to refuse to boot.

The term "virus in the world comes exactly where you might think -- the term used for diseases such as colds. As biological virus, a virus spreads through the development and sending copies of itself even on other computers.

A computer virus causes great difficulty in the computer and infection occurs without the user's consent. The fact that copies of itself could be exactly like the original virus, or they might vary a little. They usually spread over a network or via the Internet.

Many people lump all malicious programming under the label "virus." However, a virus is something completely different from a worm or a Trojan horse. Unlike a virus, the worm can not spread on its own; It requires action by the user, such as the opening or executing an infected file. A Trojan is a file that the user tips running in appearing as harmless.

Viruses cause problems for computer users and undermine programs, reformat the hard disk, or deleting files. Although the vast majority of viruses are created for the purpose of doing harm, there are some who are supposed to be harmless pranks that the mere display video, audio or text messages. However, these viruses are still in memory without permission.

The first virus was called "Elk Cloner", and it was designed to work on the Apple operating system DOS 3.3. It was created by a student appointed by Richard Skrenta in 1982. It was a joke that the virus was transmitted through a diskette containing a game

The disc could well open the game 49 times; At the 50th virus was activated. It caused to the blank screen and then display a poem read: "It will be on all your disks. It will infiltrate your chips. Yes, it's Cloner! It will stick to you like glue. It will change RAM, also . Send in the Cloner! "

Brain was the first PC virus. It was designed in 1986 by brothers Amjad and Basit Farooq Alvi. They aim to create the virus was legitimate to protect the software they had written to be copied illegally.

In the early days of viruses, the usual means of infection through a form of media that could be moved from computer to computer as a floppy. But today, it is easier for the virus to spread on the Internet or through computer networks, so that most are designed for this purpose.

Because of the popularity of the Windows platform, the majority of viruses are designed to exploit the weaknesses of the Windows operating system. However, this does not mean that there are no viruses affecting other operating systems. The truth is, regardless of the operating system you use, unless you take steps to prevent virus infections, your computer is vulnerable.

There is an entire industry of anti-virus software. The most common ways of these antivirus programs work are as follows: 1) the detection of viruses using the signature definitions, and 2) detection of viruses using a heuristic algorithm, which recognizes the typical virus behavior.

A program using signature based on the definitions the user to keep the list of definitions up to date by updates and patches issued by the software manufacturer. They are usually available at no cost with the purchase of software or through a paid subscription to the software.

The algorithm method is capable of finding viruses for which there is no signature.

Other ways to protect your computer from viruses to safeguard your data and the operating system on the media are not stored on the hard drive of your computer. So if your computer will be infected resulting in loss of data or the inability to start up the computer, you can restore your computer.

If your computer is infected, it is imprudent to continue to use it until the virus was kidnapped by completely reinstalling the operating system. It is a process that takes time and often results in the loss of data. Then, like a virus in the human body, "Prevention is better than cure." An antivirus program is absolutely essential to the health of your computer.
